DAY 1: WELCOME TO YOGYAKARTA
Upon your arrival at Yogyakarta Airport, you will be welcomed and greeted by our Javanese guide and driver. A private transfer will take you to the centre of Yogyakarta. You will stay 3 nights in the hotel that has a combination of colonial and Javanese design. It has an outdoor pool that is perfect on a warm day.

DAY 2: SELOGRIYA TEMPLE & BOROBUDUR TEMPLE
This morning at 07.00 you are going to visit Selogriyo Temple. This temple lies on the foot of Mount Sumbing surrounded by breathtaking rice terrace paddies. Here a local guide will enrich your exploration, bringing landscapes to life with stories of natural and human history.
This afternoon together with a local guide you are going to visit Borobudur Temple. Lies on the top hill surrounded by valleys and volcanoes, this majestic temple is known as the largest Buddhist temple in the world built-in the 8th century. Borobudur is also a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture and monumental arts. It contains 1,460 narrative and 1,212 decorative panels which cover the façades and balustrades.
DAY 3: MOUNT MERAPI LAVA TOUR, PRAMBANAN TEMPLE & THE HEART OF YOGYAKARTA
This morning you will start early at 07:00. Together with a local guide, get ready for your adventure on one of the most famous volcanoes in Indonesia, Mount Merapi in a 4X4! During the trip, you will visit Alien Rocks, Kaliadem Bunker, Mbah Marijan's house, and many more. Here you can see how powerful Mount Merapi exploded in the past and admire the natural beauty surrounding this area.
Your adventure is not finished yet, continue your journey to discover the biggest Hindu Temple in Southeast Asia, Prambanan. Here, a local guide will tell you the secret of an outstanding dynastic monument that was built to worship the Trimurti of Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer. This wonderful temple is also known as one of the list UNESCO world heritage sites.
Continue strolling down the traditional markets Beringharjo and Malioboro, tasting flavourful local food and many various exotic fruits together with a local guide. Afterwards, by "becak" be ready to go towards Taman Sari Water Castle that is known as the royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. Today the complex is in ruins, damaged by Diponegoro’s War and an earthquake in 1865. However, the glory of the past time still can be seen in this complex.
DAY 4: DAY TRAIN TOWARDS SURABAYA AND EXPLORE MALANG
Welcome to East Java! Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our Javanese driver at Surabaya Gubeng Station. It takes about two hours drive from Surabaya to reach your accommodation in the heart of Malang. Today, you will be visiting Wonosari Tea Plantation. The plantation is located on the slope of Mount Arjuno. At this tourist destination, visitors can witness and savour the unique experience of observing the tea processing, starting from the plucked leaves to the final product ready for consumption. The location is easily accessible, approximately 30 km to the north of the city.
Continue your journey to Jodipan Colorful Village in the centre of Malang. This village lies on the banks of Berantas River. Locals who live here, decorate their neighbourhood with many various colours and beautiful hand-made ornaments. You may also meet some local children who want to take a picture with you because they are happy to meet travellers.
Today, you will stop at Pronojiwo Village which is about a 5-hour drive from Surabaya or a 3-hour drive from Malang. You will stay at a local homestay near the waterfall, allowing you to start early in the morning and avoid crowds, especially during the high season.

DAY 5: VISIT TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL
This morning at 07.00, you will visit Tumpak Sewu Waterfall that is known as the biggest and the most spectacular waterfall in Indonesia. After arriving at vistas point, enjoy the view of majestic waterfall with Mount Semeru as a backdrop. Now you will go down to the river below through the stairs and be ready to explore the hidden caves where you can take a dip in the natural pool.
Afterwards, our driver will take you to Cemoro Lawang Village. It takes about 6 hours to drive to reach this village. You will stay in a hotel with a scenic mountain view.

DAY 6: EXPLORE MOUNT BROMO
Today, you will start early at 3:30 AM. Hop into a 4x4 vehicle and head towards Sunrise Point, located at an elevation of 2,600 meters above sea level, to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Afterwards, continue by 4x4 to the Sea of Sand, renowned as the largest volcanic ash caldera on Earth. Stop in front of the Luhur Poten Temple, situated at the foot of Mount Bromo, and begin an easy hike to reach the rim of Bromo’s crater. Here, you can truly feel the power of an active crater beneath your feet.
This morning you have an exclusive picnic breakfast at the Sea of Sand. Enjoy authentic Indonesian food made by local family and some seasonal tropical fruits with view of scenic Mount Bromo. (Optional)
After your well-deserved breakfast, continue your drive east to Licin Village. This journey takes about 8 hours with lunch break. You will stay overnight in a hotel that is surrounded by beautiful nature.

DAY 7: DISCOVER MOUNT IJEN THEN GOING TO PEMUTERAN BALI
Today, you will wake up early at 1:00 AM and prepare to head towards Paltuding, the starting point for climbing Mount Ijen. In the darkness, you will embark on a 3-kilometer hike to reach the crater rim of Ijen, accompanied by a local guide to ensure your safety. For an added dose of adrenaline, consider descending to the lake to witness the mesmerizing blue flames and explore the sulfur mines up close.
After exploring Mount Ijen, you will return to the hotel for breakfast. Later this morning, you will depart from Java Island and cross the Bali Strait by ferry via Ketapang Port. Upon your arrival, our Balinese driver will warmly welcome you at Gilimanuk Port and continue the journey to Pemuteran, Bali. TOUR YOGYAKARTA, TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL, MOUNT BROMO, AND MOUNT IJEN, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW (FAQ)
1. Are Tumpak Sewu waterfall, Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen safe for children?
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall has been improved to be more tourist-friendly. However, since the destination involves many stairs, children may find the journey tiring. It takes approximately 4 hours to explore the entire waterfall
Mount Bromo is family-friendly destination. It is easy to explore and relatively safe for the children.
However, Mount Ijen may not be suitable for children under 7 years old. Even though hiking only to the rim of the crater is considered safer, the toxic gas can be unpredictable and may pose a risk to young children.
Seeing the Blue Flames is absolutely not recommended for children. The hiking trail is unsafe and quite narrow in some parts, consisting of unstable rocks. In this area, the toxic gas is very dense, and children may panic in such conditions.
2. What time does the tour finish in Bali?
If you stop in Pemuteran, you are estimated arrive by 3:00 PM. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Gilimanuk Port to Pemuteran, making it the shortest distance for a private transfer.
If you stop in Ubud or North Kuta, you are estimated arrive by 5:00 PM. It takes about 4-5 hours drive due to traffic and narrow roads.
Please note that Bali Island is an hour ahead of Java Island.
3. How much is the additional fee for drop off in an alternative location in Bali?
The additional fee for a stop in Ubud is 500,000 IDR (approximately 30 EUR*). A stop in North Kuta is 600,000 IDR (approximately 36 EUR*), and stops in Amed or Uluwatu are 700,000 IDR (approximately 42 EUR*)
Please note that this additional fee is charged per car, not per person. For the private transfer, we will use any available car at Gilimanuk Port. Each car can accommodate up to 4 people with large luggage.
Please let us know in advance if you would like to stop at another location. Bali is not a very small island; the journey may take several hours, and we need to arrange a driver willing to accommodate this type of trip.
4. If I don’t plan to visit Bali, what is the alternative stop?
If you decide not to visit Bali, I recommend heading back to Surabaya. It has an international airport, making it convenient for your next domestic or international flight. Traveling back to Yogyakarta is not recommended as it is too far.
5. Is a deposit required to secure the booking?
Yes, a 50% deposit is required to secure the booking. This deposit will be used to book the hotel we propose, ensuring that you get the room and the tour meets your expectations.
6. When should the remaining balance be paid?
The remaining balance should be paid 14 days prior to your departure.
7. When is the best time to book the tour to Mount Bromo & Mount Ijen?
If you are traveling during the high season, which spans from July to September, I advise booking the tour 3-4 months in advance. The reason is that reputable hotels in the Bromo and Ijen area are limited. Booking early ensures you secure nice rooms for your trip with us. Especially for families or large groups, it is better to book the tour earlier.
8. What if I unexpectedly need to cancel my booking for some reason?
If you need to cancel your tour unexpectedly or at short notice, we are very sorry about that. However, please note that some hotels may refuse to refund the fees, and we may need to charge you for that. The remaining amount will be refunded to you after deducting a 7% booking fee. We also recommend contacting your travel insurance for reimbursement.
9. What if the tour to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Mount Bromo or Mount Ijen needs to be cancelled due to a natural disaster?
Volcanoes and waterfalls can be very unpredictable. We are extremely sorry if this happens. However, we suggest purchasing travel insurance that covers such situations, so you can receive reimbursement.
Alternatively, we will do our best to arrange another activity for you. However, we will not make any changes to the booking confirmation document without your permission. Our travel experts will ensure to contact you and work together to find a suitable solution.
10. Is there anything I need to be aware of for my trip to Yogyakarta, Tumpak Sewu waterfall, Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen?
We always book full structure access for Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temple, which need to be purchased in advance. However, these types of tickets are not available on Mondays. Tourists can still visit both temples on Mondays, but access is limited to the grounds, and climbing the temples is prohibited. Also, sunrise and sunset tour at both temples are no longer available anymore. Temple open at 8:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM
Please note that Mount Ijen is closed on the first Friday of every month. Additionally, access to view the Blue Flames up close is not always available, as it depends on volcanic activity.
Mount Bromo is also closed on Silence Day (March 29–30, 2025) and during the Kasada Ceremony. The exact date of the Kasada Ceremony is typically announced about six months in advance.
